The studio gathers first- and second-year students of painting and students of the specialisation art in public space. The aim of basic education in the field of drawing and painting is the individual development of awareness, knowledge and skills necessary for independent execution of paintings and drawings. Through the use of various techniques and tools, the student acquires and broadens his knowledge of basic technical skills, means of expression and the technology of painting and drawing. The basis of the work are studio realisations based on the study of still life and models, where through general and problem tasks the student develops his skills to translate his own concept of painting and drawing creation into conscious artistic work. Through individual studio work, which is based on observation of reality and nature, the student has the opportunity to develop his own methods of work from the idea and concept through drawing and painting sketches to the final realisation of the entire artwork.
In addition to the study tasks related to the problem of observation, the students have the opportunity to carry out thematic tasks prepared by the teachers, where the main problem is the relationship between observation of nature and interpretation of the subject. Through problematic and thematic tasks the possibility and ability to make artistic decisions on their own is extended, where the awareness of individual creation results from the observation of reality and interpretation of the subject.
Drawing and painting classes are conducted in the studio. Students individually consult their ideas with the teachers in the form of conceptual sketches, projects, painting ideas, works and realisations made on the basis of studio tasks (still life study, nude, model). In each semester there are regular meetings between students and teachers in the form of reviews of the works created in the studio. The reviews are individual, public presentations of the works of each student. Cyclical reviews of student works aim to verify individual work progress and development and to evaluate the artistic level as well as competences and skills of social communication. Each semester ends with a public presentation of student works in the form of an exhibition.
