Programme of the Studio of Sculpture 1

Course-specific education

Class type: studio

Class status: compulsory (elective studio)

In order to take part in the studio’s classes, you must successfully complete the curriculum of the Studio of Basics of Sculpture.

Description

The studio has an open, multidimensional, multidirectional character, it combines various areas of art. The priority of education in the sculpture studio is an individualised approach to the student with emphasis on creation, transformation of form, which is based not only on the student's mimetic experience, but above all on creative interpretation, shifting borders and crossing conventions, so that the student can actively engage in the contemporary iconosphere. It is important to equip the student with professional, classical and contemporary means of expression that will allow him to explore his own potential, which he will consciously use in independent work.

Teaching methods, forms of classes

The classes are open. In addition to the classes in the home studio, we expect to cooperate with other studios. The programme of the studio assumes inviting educators from other artistic fields in order to broaden the students' knowledge on given problems. Each task is preceded by an analysis of examples of sculptures of phenomena affecting a given topic. Collective discussions are transformed into individual corrections, which are an essential form of education in the studio. Outside the studio, it is important to be able to work with students in the open air, where new tasks and sculpting problems are introduced. The open-air workshops are a continuation and extension of the workshop programme. It is above all a clash with unlimited space and richness of materials.

Evaluation method

Credits are obtained at the end of each semester. In exceptional cases additional dates are set. The condition for obtaining a credit is a satisfactory answer to all the topics realised in the studio during a given semester. The development of the ability to express a certain content by artistic means and broadly defined creation is taken into account. Attendance due to the form of classes is an important component of evaluation and a condition for passing the course.
