Head of the studio:

prof. ASP dr hab. Adam Kamiński

Assistant:

mgr Piotr Paluch

_____

Sign · Letter · Composition

We work with:

Third-year first-cycle students (Bachelor’s degree) as well as first- and second-year second-cycle students (Master’s degree).

The main aim of the education in the Graphic Signal Design in Public Space Studio is to acquaint students with basic issues concerning the design of contemporary forms of a graphic sign, the role of a literary sign (graph), organising the composition space, many areas of visual communication and designing selected elements of visual identity.

Our task is to develop and consolidate in students the ability to concisely express a certain meaning at the level of the image, and in particular by means of legible and functional graphic forms. During the classes we share with the students our knowledge and experience in the field of, among others, composition, the role of the letter, dialogue of all graphic elements and the “format” of a graphic design, selection of appropriate means of expression, and finally the implementation of undertaken design projects.

The sign, the letter, the composition – these three words in the title properly reflect the direction of our passion, didactic activity and design challenges that the students encounter in our studio.

The history of the studio dates back to 2010, when, with the consent of the Council of the Faculty of Graphic Arts and a resolution of the Senate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, the Visual Communication Basics Studio was established, run by its founders: dr Krzysztof Stojałowski and dr Adam Kamiński.

In 2013, there was a change of the cast: dr hab. Adam Kamiński / mgr Agata Królak.

Since 2016: dr hab. Adam Kamiński / mgr Piotr Paluch.
