STUDIO PROGRAMME

The Studio of Painting and Drawing offers classes in the form of exercises, i.e. classes in the studio, which are subject to continual corrections by the teacher. During the course there are individual reviews and discussions about the student's work.

We conduct classes in the first and second year of Master's studies.

The curriculum includes drawing and painting still life, a model, as well as any fragments of reality chosen by the student. We attach great importance to making conceptual sketches – drawing and painting; running a sketchbook is an obligatory element of passing the class.

The training is aimed at developing artistic imagination through thorough observation and analysis of forms taken from nature, settings in the studio or on the basis of tasks proposed by the teachers.

The exercises in the studio are to encourage the students to become acquainted with the artistic process of creation, which is based on creation unrestrained by schemes, patterns and stereotypical thinking about form; they are also to provoke creative thinking allowing for the expression and personal interpretation of various contents, concepts, emotional states, play of associations and intuition by means of artistic forms.

The aim of the class is to trigger and develop imagination, which is an impulse and material in the creative process, fulfilling the most important function in the creation of individual artistic expression.

The assessment criterion is the level of work, active participation in classes, progress, development of skills, ability to think independently and the student's creativity.

The credit is obtained based on the presentation of works from the whole semester or year of school.

In the second, graduation year, it is possible to make an annex in painting or drawing as a supplement to the graduation show in graphics. In such a case work with the student consists of an individual programme and corrections. The student realizes his own artistic intentions on the basis of his previous research, knowledge, reflections and skills gained earlier. The aim of these classes, supported by conversations with the teacher, is to continue the search for one’s own artistic language and to find the right painting or drawing technique – the most appropriate one both in terms of the message and the diplomat’s aesthetic preferences.
