The programme implemented in the linocut studio is addressed to all student groups of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. The differences in the programme, both in terms of the topics pursued and the goals we set for ourselves, result from the students' technical and intellectual awareness. The aim of the course is: stimulation of the broadly understood development of the student's artistic personality, his awareness and creativity; participation of the linocut studio in shaping the image of the graduate and his achievements during the whole course of studies; technological education; stimulation of interest in new concepts in convex printing technique, familiarisation with new materials, tools and printing methods. Classes are conducted in the form of lectures or correction and technical exercises. Students who choose the linocut studio have the opportunity to prepare here their main diploma or annex.

Programme, objectives of the studio:

The programme implemented in the linocut studio is addressed to all student groups mentioned above. The differences in the curriculum, both in the topics and objectives we set for ourselves, result from the students' technical and intellectual awareness. The programme is addressed individually to each student.

The aim of the studio is:

stimulation of the broadly understood development of the student's artistic personality, his awareness and creativity; participation of the linocut studio in shaping the image of the graduate and his achievements during the whole course of studies; technological education; creation of the basis for independent artistic activity, taking full responsibility for shaping and searching for new values; stimulation of interest in new concepts in the convex printing technique, familiarisation with new materials, tools and printing methods.

Classes are conducted in the form of lectures and exercises.

The teaching methods are divided into two groups. The first group consists of introductory classes, i.e. lectures/comparisons/corrections. On the basis of catalogues and graphics, historical and contemporary achievements in Polish graphics are discussed, especially in the linocut technique.

The second group consists of technical classes and exercises. In this group we distinguish: learning about the design process and studio work. Design work is based on practical exercises in the use of artistic tools to interpret phenomena and processes helpful in the preparation process. Studio work is mainly based on getting to know and improving the technical skills (preparing the matrix, printing or manual printing).

The assessment of a student's work is a result of their general attitude, attendance and activity during classes, and above all their creativity, diligence and interest in the subject. An important element is the independence of artistic decisions.

Practical methods of evaluating student's work: during the semester, monthly reviews are carried out; during classes, permanent correction is being conducted, which is a form of continuous assessment; attendance at classes is checked; timeliness of the tasks performed and their compliance with the presented assumptions is controlled; at the end of the semester, there is a final review with assessment, which is a presentation of the works in the presence of the entire student group participating in the above-mentioned classes and invited guests.
