Interior Design Basics II

Head:
prof. ASP dr hab. Anna Wejkowska – Lipska

Interior Design Basics Studio II is a place of humanistic creative attitudes where the didactic basis is the creation of ideas about space resulting from the observation of surrounding reality, learning to consciously use personal experiences, inspiring trust in one’s own subconscious, recording and analysing abstract associations of all origins, and finally translating it into a correct, legible design record. The studio is located between interior architecture design and analytical design. In the space created by the designers, man is the most important and it is him that the architectural projects of private and public interiors carried out by the studio are dedicated to. Nevertheless, the value of designed spaces does not end with their utility but has a perceptual, multidimensional and creative element. Wide imagination, acquired technical and design knowledge and common sense allow us to master the sometimes false canons, which is why the design notation resulting from the gesture of the hand and mock-ups on a scale corresponding to the possibilities of its direct modification are valuable at the initial stage, as traditional tools perfectly convey and illustrate the dispositions of the mind, giving the vision an authorial and spontaneous character. The interweaving of many techniques of transmission and presentation creates a field for developing the skills of creation and the author’s design language, as well as finding emotions in the space of the designed subject.

The cognitive objectives set by the Studio are:

> broadening of cognitive processes with new experiences in the ways of experiencing architecture and thinking about structures supporting spatial relations,

> arousing interest in the multidimensionality of architectural space;

> promoting, among young designers, a conscious involvement in architectural space and sensitising them to the complexity of its perception by users and discovery of phenomena occurring in it,

> broadening of knowledge in the field of perception and the ability to establish a common creative goal.

“The weave of events, encounters, passions and experiences is for me and the team we create together with students a gateway to deeply draw from the unknown, to transfer and share knowledge and strengthen design activities, as well as to awaken in future designers the search for a way to achieve the ability to choose a creative path” – prof. ASP dr hab. Anna Wejkowska-Lipska
