The aim of this course is to give students basic knowledge about the basics of design – plane composition, features and expression of format, expression of shape, colour and light in plastic composition.
Practical tasks teach the practical application of the skills of discovering and transforming natural forms into symbolic forms, awareness of the importance of the visual message – the importance of the relationship between form and content, the legibility of the message. During classes, students adapt the acquired knowledge and technical experience to new techniques of implementing composition projects, they can consciously apply selected techniques, choosing them depending on the nature of the visual image.
The exercises are designed to stimulate the ability to see and perceive forms and phenomena in the world of nature and culture, and to shape their own individual language of artistic expression. It is a subject that gives the student an opportunity to experiment, search, come into contact with traces, structures and textures. The student uses these tools appropriately to achieve the desired effect in the form of different moods, feelings and experiences that can be experienced by the recipient. The programme is realised on the basis of practical tasks posed to the students and the individual and collective system of corrections supplemented, depending on the needs, by a monographic lecture. All the elementary principles of image construction, composition are discussed on the basis of emerging works.
Modelling is an integral part of the design process. This stage allows you to verify your own ideas and to analytically check the operation of the object. The classes are aimed at teaching the efficient use of modelling techniques as a tool for supporting design.
