The course presents methods and techniques of anthropological research and discusses possible ways of using them by the designer to obtain new data useful in the further design process. The classes are theoretical and practical in nature and are conducted in the form of lectures and practical exercises. The subject matter of the lectures concerns selected tools and procedures of anthropological research, such as the construction of a questionnaire, methods of conducting an interview, conducting field observations, making research notes and collecting source material in a visual and audio form. The classes serve to expand the conceptual apparatus of design sciences, and to identify research categories used in the field. The practical part of the classes takes the form of studio exercises, the aim of which is to perform an initial analysis of a specific research subject by means of field observation and to collect source material in visual and audio form, and then to design a questionnaire and conduct short interviews with the respondents. The results are then presented in the form of a public presentation at the end of the course.
